Coyotes que transportaban a 62 migrantes irregulares procedentes de Cuba, Brasil, Bangladesh, Eritrea y la India, desde el municipio colombiano de Turbo, Antioquia, en dirección a Centroamérica, a la altura de Cabo Tiburón, fueron arrojados al mar por el capitán de la lancha, y su ayudante.

Pescadores del Golfo de Urabá auxiliaron a algunos, y otros pudieron ser asistidos por la Armada colombiana porque llegaron nadando hasta la costa.

Entre el grupo de migrantes ilegales, había cuatro menores de edad y una mujer embarazada.

Una de las personas que fue arrojada en altamar murió, aún no se ha identificado, pero El Nuevo Herald asevera era cubano.

A través de un comunicado la Armada informó que la lancha transitaba en horas no autorizadas.

Los que llegaron a nado hasta la costa, se dirigieron hasta el corregimiento de Sapzurro; una población colombiana que tiene frontera con Panamá, ahí pidieron auxilio al Puesto de Control de Guardacostas y de la Estación de Policía, y el personal le pudo brindar ayuda humanitaria.

Los Guardacostas emprendieron con inmediatez una operación de búsqueda y hallaron el cadáver.

Los 61 sobrevivientes fueron transportados a Capurganá, allí han sido puestos a disposición de Migración Colombia.

Según David Serpa, comandante de la fuerza de tarea contra el narcotráfico, no tuvo que ver con una medida de emergencia de los “coyotes”, sino que es una modalidad de timar a los migrantes.

“Podemos determinar que es una acción premeditada. Cerca de donde los dejaron hay muchos lugares seguros. Pero los lanzaron por la borda y algunos de ellos lograron alcanzar la playa; otros, por su parte, permanecieron flotando por varias horas”, añadió.
