Cubano Ysmael Romero representará al equipo de baloncesto boricua en certámenes internacionales/Imagen tomada de redes sociales
El basquetbolista cubano Ysmael Romero tendrá la oportunidad de representar a Puerto Rico en certámenes internacionales, luego de nueve años residiendo en la Isla del Encanto.
La Federación de Baloncesto de Puerto Rico dio inicio a las gestiones para autorizarlo esta semana, y a Romero solo le resta esperar porque la Federación Internacional de Baloncesto (FIBA) también le apruebe la petición.
«Estoy listo Puerto Rico. Gracias», escribió El Cubanazo en las redes, muy optimista de que su momento de brillar con la selección puertorriqueña ha llegado.
Desde Cuba, Dalia Henry, Comisionada Nacional de la Federación Cubana de Baloncesto, dijo no tienen objeción, y Romero podrá integrarse a la escuadra boricua muy pronto.
El cubano que abandonó la Isla hace una década, ya cuenta con la ciudadanía estadounidense y puertorriqueña.
«Estoy muy emocionado y feliz. Puerto Rico es mi hogar. Me adoptaron con orgullo y pasión. Siento que me quieren demasiado, me respetan y me cuidan. Estoy agradecido. Representar a Puerto Rico será un sueño hecho realidad porque es un país del cual me siento parte», sostuvo el deportista al enterarse de la buena nueva.
