El político cubanoamericano Carlos Trujillo de 35 años ha sido confirmado por el Senado de EEUU como Representante Permanente de los Estados Unidos ante la Organización de los Estados Americanos (OEA), dio a conocer Marco Rubio, senador por la Florida, también de origen cubano.
Trujillo nació en Long Island (Nueva York), el 25 de febrero de 1983, y había sido nominado para embajador de Estados Unidos en la OEA, en octubre pasado.
El cubanoamericano ha ratificado su compromiso con la situación humanitaria en países de la región como Cuba y Venezuela.
En 2010, Trujillo fue elegido por vez primera para la Cámara de Representantes de Florida, desde ese momento ha sido reelegido de manera consecutiva.
“Como alguien con una sólida comprensión de las relaciones entre los EE UU y América Latina, Carlos Trujillo es una excelente opción para desempeñarse como Representante Permanente de los Estados Unidos ante la Organización de los Estados Americanos”, escribió Rubio en un comunicado.
El político de 35 años catalogó su nominación para el cargo en la OEA el pasado año como “el mayor reto”.
“Carlos ha servido diligentemente a sus electores en la Cámara de Representantes de Florida en los últimos ocho años, y sé que hará lo mismo mientras representa al pueblo estadounidense en la OEA”, agregó en el texto Marco Rubio.
