Dos hombres capturaron una enorme serpiente pitón muy cerca del visitado centro comercial Dolphin Mall en el west de Miami Dade.
La serpiente fue vista desde el Turnpike por un residente local que decidió llamar a un amigo con experiencia en la captura de reptiles.
Albert Pardo dijo a Local 10 News que estaba con su hijo y su perro Archie cuando la vio el fin de semana en un área pantanosa cerca del Dolphin Mall.
Decidió entonces llamar a su amigo el Dr. Alvaro Larin.
“En el camino de regreso, [Archie] corrió un poco más cerca y saltó en el aire. Como si algo lo sobresaltara. Volvimos a investigar y en ese momento la serpiente se metió al agua”, relató Pardo. “Entonces llamé a mi amigo, el Dr. Larin, porque tiene experiencia en la captura de serpientes”.
El domingo, Larin subió al terreno pantanoso y sacó a la serpiente del agua después de varios minutos luchando con ella. El yerno de Pardo, Manny Cejas, también asistió.
El video de la captura fue compartido por el citado medio.
“Son una especie invasora. Es mejor que se deshagan de ellos”, dijo Pardo. “Casi dejo caer el teléfono y me meto allí”.
La pitón pasó la noche en una hielera en la casa rodante de Pardo antes de ser entregada a oficiales de Pesca y Vida Silvestre de Florida quienes se la llevaron.
