Al menos 18 balseros cubanos fueron detenidos este viernes en los Cayos de la Florida/Imagen tomada de redes sociales
Detenidos 18 balseros cubanos en los Cayos de la Florida, dio a conocer la Patrulla Fronteriza de Estados Unidos (USBP, por sus siglas en inglés), en la mañana de este viernes 29 de octubre.
Según las autoridades estadounidenses los isleños se encuentran bajo custodia.
«18 migrantes cubanos tocaron tierra en un barco pesquero de madera en los Cayos de Florida. Agentes de la Patrulla Fronteriza respondieron a un evento de contrabando marítimo cerca de Key West y detuvo a los migrantes», indicaron en un tuit.

Durante el último año se ha incrementado el número de cubanos que se lanzan al mar, arriesgando sus vidas con el afán de salir del yugo dictatorial y poder vivir en libertad, en medio de una agudización de los problemas económicos y de la represión por parte del régimen contra la sociedad civil en la Isla.
En abril pasado, algunos medios señalaban que había aumentado un 400% la cifra de migrantes cubanos que han elegido la travesía marítima para llegar a EEUU durante el año fiscal 2021.
Desde entonces muchos más han llegado a las costas de la Florida y han sido repatriados a Cuba.
La cifra de migrantes cubanos que cruzan la selva centroamericana rumbo al norte, de igual modo ha seguido en ascenso.
