La aerolínea Aeroméxico reanudó sus vuelos a Cuba con una frecuencia diaria tras dos años sin realizar esa ruta.
Desde el domingo Aeroméxico realizará un solo vuelo diario entre la Ciudad de México y La Habana, con una capacidad para 160 personas.
El primer vuelo realizado el domingo fue en un Boeing 737-800, en el que arribaron al Aeropuerto Internacional José Martí de La Habana 73 pasajeros.
En ese vuelo viajó Ignacio Cabrera, que recientemente fue designado cónsul de México en Cuba, según la Agencia Cubana de Noticias (ACN).
Según declaraciones publicadas en Prensa Latina (PL) el embajador de México en la isla cubana, Miguel Díaz, dijo respecto al vuelo inaugural:
“Ya nos hacía falta la recuperación de esta conectividad, estamos en medio de un enorme esfuerzo de los gobiernos de ambas naciones por mejorar el enlace aéreo entre nuestras capitales”, además de reconocer que retomar esta conexión aérea entre Cuba y México, daría nuevas oportunidades al turismo, la reunificación familiar, así como también viajes de negocio y de temas comerciales entre ambos países.
Aeroméxico, con casi 570 vuelos diarios a 90 rutas nacionales e internacionales, abrió el destino Cuba por primera vez en 2011 y detuvo sus operaciones en la isla en 2020, como consecuencia de las restricciones sanitarias de la pandemia.
El itinerario previsto para esta reapertura con un vuelo diario quedaría de la siguiente manera, de lunes a domingo:
Ciudad de México-La Habana en el horario de las 08:40 horas de México.
El regreso será el mismo día: La Habana- Ciudad México a las 13:30 hora de Cuba.
Sonia Beltrán, consejera de Turismo de la embajada cubana en México, dijo que la aerolínea Aeroméxico podría estar volando a destinos como La Habana, Varadero, Santa Clara, Camagüey, Holguín y Santiago, para finales del 2022.
