El joven cubano Alexander López Savran, egresado de la Facultad de Energía Eléctrica de la Universidad Central «Marta Abreu de Las Villas» (UCLV), está en la lista de los 35 innovadores jóvenes latinoamericanos que presenta el prestigioso Instituto Tecnológico de Massachusetts (MIT), como nueva generación de líderes en tecnología en España y Latinoamérica.

El cubano ha creado sistemas de abastecimiento de biogás, el uso del biogás permite mayores rendimientos en los cultivos con la implementación de abonos no orgánicos, gracias al ahorro del 50% de electricidad en las fincas.

“En la región rural de Cabaiguán, el joven ha diseñado e instalado unos biodigestores que reciclan los residuos de un centro porcino cercano y los transforman en biogás. Gracias a esta planta que abastece a la región de una fuente de energía renovable, sus cuatro comunidades, que suman más de 500 habitantes, han conseguido reducir un 50% su factura eléctrica de fuentes tradicionales”, resalta el MIT Technology Review en español.

La publicación, que valoró trabajos de 2000 candidatos, subraya que el innovador cubano está presente durante todo el proceso, diseña e instala los biodigestores y las redes de suministro, además de entrenar a los operarios y a los usuarios en las cuatro comunidades donde han sido instaladas las estructuras, en la localidad de Cabaiguán.
