La Policía de Las Vegas desde el primer momento había dicho que Stephen Paddock era el “único sospechoso” en un suceso que ya se considera el tiroteo más terrible de la historia moderna de Estados Unidos, si bien aún se desconocen las razones que le llevaron a generar esta masacre.
Este lunes el Buró Federal de Investigación (FBI) descartó el nexo del tiroteo ocurrido en altas horas de la noche del domingo en Las Vegas, Nevada con algún grupo terrorista extranjero.
“No existe ningún vínculo conocido entre el atacante y ningún grupo extranjero conocido”, aclaró un portavoz del FBI durante una rueda de prensa que tuvo lugar en la ciudad.
EL FBI quiso desmentir un comunicado del Estado Islámico (EI), hecho público a través de su agencia de propaganda, Amaq, y cuya autenticidad no pudo ser verificada, en la que los yihadistas aseguraron que el autor del atentado era uno de sus “soldados”.
El sheriff del condado de Clark, Joe Lombardo donde se encuentra la ciudad de Las Vegas, aseveró que la investigación sigue abierta y se refirió al presunto autor de la matanza como “un lobo solitario” que poseía un número considerable de armas.
Por el momento debido a este tiroteo perpetrado durante un concierto de música country han muerto al menos 58 personas y unas 515 han resultado heridas.
