El canal de televisión de Latinoamérica Telesur está siendo visto en directo desde Cuba un total de 14 horas diarias desde ayer domingo 20 de enero. Las horas de transmisión estarán divididas en los siguientes horarios de 8.00 de la mañana hasta las 16.30 de la tarde y otro entre las 8 de la noche y la 1 de la madrugada. Hasta antes de ayer la televisión cubana solo transmitía resúmenes filtrados pero ahora se podrá ver en directo al menos en los horarios antes mencionados según EFE.
Cuba es accionista del canal desde el 2005 pero tardo 8 años en autorizar la transmisión en vivo del canal para los cubanos a pesar de que en su mayoría es controlado por Cuba y Venezuela. La primera vez que Telesur se vio en Cuba fue en el 2007 con un resumen titulado «Lo mejor de Telesur» que contenía una selección de noticias filtradas por el gobierno.
Cuba sigue manteniendo 5 canales de transmisión que son: Cubavision, Tele Rebelde, Canal Educativo, Multivisión y el Canal Educativo 2 que es por donde se transmitirá Telesur.

Las horas de transmisión estarán divididas en los siguientes horarios de 8.00 de la mañana hasta las 16.30 de la tarde y otro entre las 8 de la noche y la 1 de la madrugada. Hasta antes de ayer la televisión cubana solo transmitía resúmenes filtrados pero ahora se podrá ver en directo al menos en los horarios antes mencionados según EFE.
