En el día de hoy en la ciudad de Sancti Spíritus ocurrió un accidente que cobró la vida de 6 personas. Se trata de un accidente ferroviario y tuvo lugar alrededor de la una de la tarde en el tramo del territorio cubano que se encuentra entre la zona de Tuinucó y Sancti Spíritus.

La colisión se produjo entre un coche motor de Siguaney un tren con un cargamento de caña de azúcar. La locomotora pertenece a la industria azucarera y se usa habitualmente para tirar vagones cargados de caña de azúcar recién cortada rumbo a los ingenios. Además de las 6 vidas perdidas en el nefasto accidente, otras 50 personas resultaron heridas en el mismo.
