El gobierno de Cuba dijo que ha reparado 771 viviendas de las 7.761 afectadas por el tornado según un reporte publicado en el diario oficial Granma.
La prensa oficial también reportó que 3.619 viviendas han recibido materiales para la reconstrucción los cuales les son vendidos a altos precios.
«La titular de Finanzas y Precios, Meisi Bolaños Weiss, informó que cinco mil 700 damnificados tienen concluida la ficha técnica que les permite comprar los materiales y durante esta semana debe concluir la labor en las oficinas de trámites » dijo la prensa oficial de la isla.
De todas las casas dañadas 619 fueron derrumbes totales. Según el Ministro de la Construcción de esos derrumbes totales se van a reconstruir 384 en el mismo lugar, ubicar 72 en nuevos emplazamientos y otros 163 en locales adaptados para viviendas.
A pesar de los reportes del gobierno muchas son las quejas de los damnificados que denuncian malos tratos y falta de atención por parte de las autoridades del gobierno.
