Uno de cada 10 empleados de la Administración de Seguridad del Transporte, programados para trabajar el domingo, se tomó el día libre, y muchos trabajadores alegaron «limitaciones financieras» que les impiden desempeñarse en su puesto, informa la TSA, recoge Local 10 News.
«Las cifras completas de ayer muestran que la TSA experimentó una tasa nacional del 10% de las ausencias no programadas en comparación con la tasa del 3.1% del año anterior, el 20 de enero de 2018», dio a conocer la agencia.
«Muchos empleados informan que no pueden presentarse al trabajo debido a limitaciones financieras», añade el comunicado de la TSA.
A medida que el cierre de gobierno se prolonga, el problema ha cobrado mayor atención, y las ausencias no programadas han aumentado significativamente en relación con el año pasado.
En la quinta semana de cierre de gobierno, la declaración de la TSA indica que pese a la alta tasa de ausencias no programadas, los tiempos de espera en los aeropuertos están «dentro de los tiempos normales de TSA» de 30 minutos en carriles estándar y 10 minutos para los volantes de TSA PreCheck.
La declaración también reconoció que «algunos aeropuertos experimentaron tiempos de espera más largos de lo habitual».
La semana pasada la TSA envió una nota a los funcionarios de agencias clave de los aeropuertos para que no hicieran públicos los detalles en cuanto a llamados de cada terminal aérea.
Un correo electrónico señalaba que no se debían ofrecer datos específicos acerca de la cantidad de empleados que llamaban para no asistir a trabajar a los aeropuertos.
