El infielder cubano Aledmys Díaz es la nueva adquisición de los Astros de Houston, a cambio del lanzador derecho Trent Thornton, recoge Diario de Cuba, y otros medios de prensa deportiva.

El campocorto de 28 años de edad, disputó 130 juegos con los Azulejos de Toronto este año, bateando .263, con 26 dobles y 18 jonrones en el total de partidos de la temporada.

“He’s got some versatility, got some power and can do a lot of things. It seems like it’s an opportunity for us to improve our team,” Jeff Luhnow told reporters.

«Tiene cierta versatilidad, algo de poder y puede hacer muchas cosas. Parece que es una oportunidad para que mejoremos nuestro equipo», dijo Jeff Luhnow, manager general de los Astros.

Díaz llegó a Toronto en diciembre de 2017 a cambio del jardinero de Ligas Menores J.B. Woodman, cedido entonces a los Cardenales de San Luis.

Según el sitio deportivo AlBat, el santaclareño ha demostrado gran versatilidad defensiva en sus tres campañas en Grandes Ligas.

En su año de debut, 2016 los numeritos del torpedero cubano fascinaron a más de uno, de acuerdo a Diario de Cuba, exhibió una «interesantísima mezcla de contacto, habilidad de bate, aceptable defensa y poder ocasional».
