En la semana número 159 de represión contra el movimiento femenino opositor Damas de Blanco, la congresista Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, republicana por Florida, denunció el domingo otra jornada represiva contra el pueblo cubano a manos del régimen castrista, en la que se arrestó a la activista Caridad Burunate, miembro de la organización disidente, reporta Martí Noticias.

“Otro domingo de opresión en #Cuba: Arrestan a las @DamasdBlanco. Esta vez: Caridad Burunate en camino a la iglesia. Sigue la represión en contra del pueblo a las manos del régimen dictatorial de @RaulCastroR y #DiazCanel”, tuiteó la legisladora de origen cubano.

El ex prisionero político Iván Hernández Carrillo también denunció la detención de Caridad Burunate cuando se dirigía a la iglesia este domingo, y fue conducida por la policía política al Hospital Psiquiátrico de Colón, en la provincia de Matanzas.

La madre del activista, Asunción Carrillo también fue detenida arbitrariamente al salir de su vivienda, y según Hernández, la anciana de igual modo fue internada en el Hospital Psiquiátrico de la localidad matancera.

Luego de la asunción al cargo de presidente de Miguel Díaz-Canel, recientes reportes de organismos y grupos de derechos humanos han indicado un ascenso de las detenciones arbitrarias, y la represión policial contra las Damas de Blanco en la Isla, al igual que con otras organizaciones opositoras cubanas.

Mientras Díaz-Canel y su comitiva llegaban a Nueva York el domingo, para participar en la 73ra Asamblea General de Naciones Unidas, y darle visos democráticos a su gobierno, instaurado y manejado por el castrismo, en Cuba se reprimían a estas valientes mujeres que salen a las calles cada fin de semana a pedir la liberación para los presos políticos, y democracia para la Mayor de las Antillas.
